Meiya Tibetan Rugs presented by Silk Road Carpet and Rugs are a collection of designs and product created to make difference to the lives of the local Tibetan people that produce the rugs and the entire local community as a whole. Because their business has a positive impact on all levels of society from the most remote nomad where they buy their wool, to the local Tibetan leadership who work with Meiya to establish community outreach programs. They strongly believe that a grass-roots holistic approach to development is not only their responsibility, but is an essential part of their values as a company and as individuals. The Meiya philosophy is to live and work alongside the indigenous people of he Tibetan plateau to produce and sell high quality hand knotted Tibetan rugs. Because their rugs are not made in Nepal or India like so many others are, Meiya truly embodies what it means to be a "Tibetan" rug company
